Meditation 

Students participated in a meditation session with Sharon Evan from Seva Meditation. She talked about breathing, focus and concentration. 


Community Clean-up

The grade 1 and 2 students went on a walk around the school to collect plastic bags and paper cups for the plastic bag recycling challenge and the cups for cash drive. They also collected other trash items they found



Greenhouse Planting

The French immersion students spent time planting in the greenhouse with the help of Jessica Galloit, the parent of one of our kindergarten students. They enjoyed learning about different plants, making observations about seeds and leaves and preparing and planting the seeds.

Monday Memo

Monday:  
- The Recycle My Cell Campaign ends: this will be the last day to bring in cell phones.
- Plastic Bag Campaign begins: Students are encouraged to collect as many plastic shopping bags as they and bring them to school. All bags collected will be processed and used to make new products. Schools that collect the most plastic bags for recycling per student and/or show their enthusiasm for the challenge and its message on social media, are eligible to win prizes to support environmental initiatives in their school or community. The top collector will win a cash prize of 5000$ (first prize 1000$, second prize 750$, third prize a bench made from 95% recycles materials).
- City Of Corner Brook Card board Cup Drive begins. In an effort to clean up that waste and encourage people to dispose of their cardboard cups in a more appropriate way, the City of Corner Brook is putting some value on those discarded cups. The City of Corner Brook will pay 5 cents for each used cup collected from City streets. The Campaign which runs from May 1st through to May 27th is meant to provide incentives to youth groups, schools, young people and residents alike who want to pitch in and help keep our City clean and litter free. In addition to paying 5 cents per cup there will also be 4 cups stamped and valued at $100 each (hidden among other cups) as an extra incentive for Campaign participants.
- Spring Photo Shoot  This is a full uniform day!
- Lunch will be at 11:15am. Students will be eating in their classrooms. Please take this into confederation when packing lunches as microwave access will be limited.
- May Crowning at All Hallows Church 12:00pm

Tuesday: 
Assembly at 11:30am to honor our  K-6 success in the K-I-C Energy Contest sponsored by NL Light and Power. There will be a power point presentation of the entries and we will watch the videos of the classes who submitted the videos.We will be awarded a $2000.00 Technology grant. A pizza lunch will be provided.
- Grade 5/6 students will be hosting a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) expo in the cafeteria at 1:50pm.

Monday Memo

National Volunteer Week: April 23rd - April 29th ! Our IHMS community is very appreciative of the many volunteers and supporters that we have. Our students are very blessed and certainly benefit from the gifts and talents of our volunteers who give so generously and willingly. It is very much appreciated.


Monday: Theme Day - Endangered Earth Day 
- Students can dress in earth colour (brown, blue, green), dress and an endangered animal, or other earth day themed attire. Students participating in the theme day are asked to bring a $1.00 donation in aid of the greenhouse.
- Recycle My Cell Continues
- School wide Earth Day assembly at 1:00pm. Each class will be giving a small presentation at the assembly. Families are welcome to attend.
- Due to the assembly, lunch will be shortened by approximately 10-15 minutes.

- There will be no spelling test this week
Grade 1-3 students will be attending the TNL production Jack Five-Oh at the Arts and Culture Centre. Jack Five-Oh is a collection of two “Jack” folk takes, collected and adapted by Andy Jones and Phillip Dinn. Students will be participating in a quick Q&A session after the performance with the director and writer Andy Jones. Busses will be leaving school promptly at 9:40am. The cost of the show is $8.00 per students. The office has asked that all monies be submitted by Wednesday.
- The Heritage Fair will be taking place today in the school gymnasium. The grade 4-LIII students have been working on projects for the NL Heritage Fair under the theme "Keeping our Stories Alive: Celebrating 20 Years of Heritage Fairs in NL”. The fair will be open to public viewing at 1:15pm.  The awards presentation will begin at 2:15pm.

Easter Center Pictures

Liam, Katy and Rotém sort French spring words based on the number of syllables.

Jamie, Jabilie and Jacob play a French game of 'BOOM', where they have to say the French name for the item in the picture and the first person to put down all their cards wins.

Charlie, Robert and Yael use scrabble tiles to spell out the French spring words pictured on the cards.

Willow, Brooklyn and Allie put French spring words in alphabetical order.
